Participants will gain an understanding of the structure of the MIRC community and how the design supports multiple implementations. Attendees will learn about the new MIRC developments in the RSNA MIRC implementation over the past year, including teaching file authoring tools and clinical trial support software. Attendees will also learn about the open-source development project for the RSNA MIRC implementation and how to participate in it.
Participants will gain an understanding of the MIRC query architecture and the requirements for integrating an existing database driven teaching file with MIRC. This presentation will cover the specifics of the integration process including: the use of HTTP and XML for data exchange, the mapping of schemas between MIRC and the exiting teaching file and the translation of MIRC's boolean queries into the teaching file's native query language.
Describe our database-centric implementation of the MIRC query-server architecture. Describe how access to multiple repositories in our department is integrated into a single secure MIRC-compliant query-server model. Understand the value of an "inside + outside" implementation that provides simultaneous access to protected internal content and numerous worldwide MIRC sites. Appreciate the inclusivity of the MIRC model.
1) Be able to discuss the practical ways in which the MIRC software can be used in a radiology department. 2) Understand the challenges associated with implementing MIRC at a departmental and enterprise level. 3) List some of the advantages of the MIRC teaching file system in comparison to other approaches. 4) Discuss possible enhancements to MIRC based on practical experience from users.
