 LEARNING OBJECTIVES

1. To review rare masses of the female pelvis 2. To discuss differential diagnosis based on the site of origin and imaging features 3. To discuss imaging techniques to optimize pelvic mass characterization

 ABSTRACT

Spectrum of rare female pelvic masses will be presented with multimodality approach (ultrasound, CT, and MRI)and pathology correlation. We will structure the review based on the organ of origin. We will discuss the differential diagnosis and best imaging strategies to characterize the pathologies. The discussion will include bladder leiomyoma, papillary urothelial carcinoma and diverticular carcinosarcoma, urethral carcinoma and urethral collagen injection, round ligament fibroid and ovarian fibroma, giant mature teratoma, atypical giant endometrioma, plexiform neurofibromatosis of the pelvis, peritoneocele with pseudomyxoma peritonei, pelvic angiosarcoma, lipoleiomyoma and cystic hemorrhagic fibroid degeneration, drop implant fibrolamellar hepatocellular carcinoma and other drop metastases. The classic pelvic masses will be also included for correlation of imaging findings. We will focus on algorithmic “what-if” approach to female pelvic mass characterization.
