1. Create teaching cases directly from a PACS using a web browser.
2. Support multi-site research projects and interdepartmental conferences.
3. Use MyPACS as a collaborative platform for interdisciplinary knowledge management, such as radiology-pathology correlation efforts.
ABSTRACT
Funded by the National Institutes of Health, MyPACS.net is used by thousands of radiologists and pathologists to create interactive teaching files and annotated research data repositories. Over 45,000 images have been uploaded to the server, comprising the largest international repository of teaching files on the web. The free system provides full DICOM and MIRC connectivity, a browser-based series viewer, enterprise content management functionality, automated cross-referencing of related cases, and intelligent search capabilities. New features include metadata management for research data sets, customizable case templates, seamless Powerpoint interfacing, and an integrated image editor. MyPACS plays a fundamental role in the residency curriculum at the University of Washington and dozens of other medical centers.
